“Troop 1201 visited one of our favorite spots over the weekend, Devil’s Canyon, in the Angeles National Forest. Red and Blue youth patrols along with the “old yeller” patrol ventured over 2000-feet down into the canyon. The sycamore trees were turning shades of yellow. The poison oak had taken on a deep red hue. Our drought was clearly evident as the creek we camped by was running at barely a trickle. The highlight was a three-way capture the flag game, in the dark, that lasted over an hour. Of course, the “old yeller” patrol prevailed. The wind started to blow in the afternoon and remained strong overnight. This made for almost cold conditions on the hike out on Sunday. This backpack was a great success! – Scoutmaster Cliff”
