Philmont Prep Hike to the top of Mt Baldy 2008/04/27
"The Philmont Crew successfully bagged Mount San Antonio peak (10,064 feet) in our first preparation hike for Philmont. The entire crew of (9) scouts and (3) advisors made the outing, great job guys! There was nearly 4,000 feet of gain over 8-miles on this hike. There was plenty of patchy snow above the Ski Hut, but that didn't stop the crew from achieving the summit. Mount San Antonio, better known to most in Los Angeles as Old Baldy or Mount Baldy, is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California." -- Scoutmaster Cliff |

Philmont Planning 2008/04/20 ![]() "Scouting offers countless opportunities that are available to boys of all ages. As scouts get older, however, the real high adventure begins. This year we have 9-scouts going to Philmont Scout Ranch to experience a 73-mile high adventure backpacking trip over 12-days. Philmont is BSA’s premier high-adventure base situated in more than 200 square miles of rugged New Mexico wilderness. In addition to the expedition, the scouts will experience many activities ranging from Black Powder rifle shooting to rock climbing and rappelling. This evening the 2008 Philmont Crew and their adult advisors got together to conduct business, enjoy a great BBQ and discuss their first prep outing this coming weekend." – Scoutmaster Cliff. |
