Boy Scout Adult Training Information

Recommended for All Scout Parents:

Just want to learn more of what scouting is about?  The following training is recommended for everyone:

  • Fast Start  -- The Basics of what Scouting is,  may be taken online or borrow a video.

  • Youth Protection Training -- Description --  Online or In Person
    One youth protected adult required on all youth outings.  Good for 3 years.  Even if you are not an active parent in the troop, this training is highly recommended.

  • Safe Swim / Safety Afloat -- Online

  • Scout Round Table --  Simply a get-together of adults to talk about all things scouting.  The Los Amigos Roundtable meets the Third Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM at St Paul's Lutheran Church at Harbor & Las Palmas.

  • New Parent Orientation

  • BSA Advancement

Basic Training for Assistant Scoutmasters or the curious

Earn your "Trained" patch.  Typically these classes are held March thru May and September thru October.  They may be taken in any district.  Enroll in the following courses to be "Trained":

Go the Extra Mile

For those of you who would like to explore further, consider the following training:

  • Woodbadge - Description - For those who have completed basic training and want more.  Earn a Knot for your Uniform.  Usually one class in Spring and one in Fall.  Info & Schedule

  • HAT (High Adventure Training).  Excellent training for extended wilderness excursions.  By completing this training, boys on outings you lead are eligible for special patches.  Usually one class in Spring and one in Fall.  Two classes:  Backpack Awareness and Winter Backpacking   Info & Schedule
